Roaring into the Lion City for the first time on 28th September is the most thrilling, high powered, road scorching car race in the world, known simply as the F1!

This year Singapore has the unique distinction of hosting the first race in the history of Formula One to be held at night! The 5.1 kilometre street circuit, run on public roads and centred in the Marina Bay area, is sure to test the skill of the world’s greatest drivers, guarantee sensational viewing for its spectators and bring greater global awareness for Singapore. Lighting specialists have designed a system using special projectors strategically placed around the circuit to minimise glare and reflection and ensure optimum visibility.

The 2008 Formula One season is the 59th FIA Formula One World Championship. It began on 16th March in Kuala Lumpur and will progress to Japan before ending in Shanghai on 2nd November after a total of 18 races.

Travelling at speeds of up to 350km per hour along purpose-built tracks, in extraordinarily expensive vehicles with massive tyres and the latest in high-tech equipment, the fearless drivers of the F1 compete in gruelling three hour drives on average once every two weeks during the series in the hope of winning one of the three coveted trophies which will ensure their place as one of the fastest drivers in the world.
