Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is now a well established concept in both the private and public sectors, a concept that is woven into the agenda of many large and medium companies. But how do companies go about living up to their “social responsibility”? How can they best fulfil the company and the employees’ ethical agendas?

Regal Hua Hin is Thailand’s oldest beach getaway. Only 200 kilometres from the Bangkok, it makes a great respite for city dwellers and foreign visitors alike.

Chiang Mai a new city? How can a 712-year-old city be new? Well, it was new in the year 1296, when a northern prince called Mangrai swept out of the old kingdom of Yonok on the Mekong and bested Haripunjaya (now Lamphun), the Mon capital to the south.

He decided to build a grandiose new capital within a square of moats. Such an ambitious project required a worthy name, and so he called it a Chiang, or “grand capital”. The Chiang he decided to build, with its square moat, was new, hence the “Mai”.

KIng Mangrai established a dynasty that was to rule the kingdom of Lanna for almost 300 years. But time never stands still. Now part of Thailand, Chiang Mai is constantly renewing and reinventing itself.
