An absolute must when in Polokwane is a visit to the largest and oldest baobab tree in the world, about 20 kilometres from the town. It is about 6,000 years old (1,000 years older than the Pyramids in Egypt), and has a circumference at its base of 47 metres – that is almost half the length of an international soccer pitch.
